SHAWNEE LANES — QUEEN OF HEARTS DRAWING RULES
1. Game Structure & Legality
- "Pool Not Conducted for Profit" Compliance: This drawing is operated strictly in compliance with Ohio gambling laws and liquor regulations.
- 100% Payout: 100% of all ticket sales revenue is distributed back to the participants. The house does not retain any "cut," "rake," or administrative fee.
- Ticket Pricing: Tickets are priced at $5.00 each. There is no limit to the number of tickets an individual may purchase each week unless Shawnee Lanes announces a purchase limit before sales begin for the next drawing.
2. Ticket Eligibility & Sales Cut-Off
- Age Requirement: All participants must be 21 years of age or older at the time of ticket purchase.
- The following individuals are not eligible to participate in a drawing or claim prize winnings:
- Owners of Shawnee Lanes
- Current employees of Shawnee Lanes
- Anyone residing in the same household as a Shawnee Lanes owner or current employee
- Anyone purchasing/submitting a ticket on behalf of an ineligible person
- Anyone prohibited from participating under federal, state or local laws
- Legible Information: The back of each ticket must contain the participant’s Full Legal Name, Working Phone Number, and Card Choice Number (from 1 to 54).
- Disqualification: Tickets that are illegible, incomplete, contain nicknames, or lack a valid card choice number are invalid. Only one participant’s name can be written on the ticket. If drawn, they will be discarded immediately, and a new ticket will be drawn. Tickets are void if the ticket has been altered, contains conflicting information, the card number has already been selected, ticket was not paid for, individual is not eligible, or management determines the ticket fraudulent.
- Firm Sales Cut-Off: Ticket sales close promptly at 7:00 PM on Sunday nights. To ensure fairness, no tickets will be sold after 7:00 PM under any circumstances, even if a participant is currently standing in line to purchase a ticket. Shawnee Lanes has the official clock!
- No Roll-Over Tickets: Tickets are valid only for the week they are purchased. Following the weekly drawing, all non-winning tickets in the drum are destroyed. Ticket sales for the following week’s drawing begin fresh on Monday at 5pm.
- Shawnee Lanes may require photo identification before selling a ticket or paying out a prize.
- A ticket purchased or submitted by an ineligible person is void. An ineligible person cannot receive a prize directly or indirectly through another person.
- Tickets are sold at the Gutterball Lounge inside Shawnee Lanes and/or at the Shawnee Lanes service desk during normal business hours Monday through Sunday. Hours are seasonal and do occasionally change throughout the year based on operational needs. No tickets will be sold after 7:00 PM on Sunday under any circumstances! Any change to this cutoff time will be announced before sales begin for the next drawing.
- Tickets can only be purchased in person from a Shawnee Lanes employee or owner. Tickets will not be sold online, over the phone, via text message, e-mail, etc.
- Once a ticket has been submitted, it may not be altered or re-used in a future drawing.
3. Queen of Hearts Game Board
- The game board consists of 52 standard playing cards and 2 Jokers (54 total cards)
- The cards are sealed face down on the board and numbered 1 through 54.
- The board is purchased from All-Star Gaming. No person at Shawnee Lanes or All-Star Gaming has any knowledge of where any card is located on the board.
- After a card is selected, it will be placed face up on the board and signed by the individual that selected it.
- The game will continue weekly until the Queen of Hearts is selected.
3. Weekly Drawing Logistics
- Time and Place: Drawings take place every Sunday night at exactly 8:00 PM at the Gutterball Lounge inside Shawnee Lanes. Any change to the drawing time will be announced before sales begin for the next drawing.
- The Draw: One single ticket will be blindly drawn from the ticket drum each week.
4. Definition of "Present to Win"
- The Presence Rule: To be considered "Present," the person whose name is written on the drawn ticket must visually identify themselves to the drawing official within exactly five (5) minutes of their name being announced over the facility's PA system.
- No Group Representatives: Participants cannot designate a friend or group member to appear on their behalf. The actual individual named on the ticket must be physically present inside the building. Photo identification will be required, and the name on the identification must match the name on the winning ticket.
5. Payout & Split Parameters (90% / 50%)
When a ticket is drawn, the corresponding numbered card on the locked Queen of Hearts board will be opened. The jackpot consists of a cumulative ticket sales pool.
Scenario A: The Queen of Hearts is Revealed
- If the Winner is PRESENT: The winner receives 90% of the total cumulative jackpot pool. The remaining 10% will carry over to serve as the "seed money" to start the next consecutive game cycle. The existing Queen of Hearts board will be destroyed, and a new board will be started the following week.
- If the Winner is NOT PRESENT: The winner receives 50% of the total cumulative jackpot pool. The remaining 50% will carry over to serve as the "seed money" to start the next consecutive game cycle. The existing Queen of Hearts board will be removed, and a new board will be started the following week.
Scenario B: A Joker is Revealed
- Instant Payout: If the drawn ticket reveals a Joker and the player is present, the player is awarded a flat consolation prize of $200.00 cash paid directly from the pot. Players not present do not qualify for instant payout prizes.
- Rollover: The remaining weekly ticket pool rolls over into the next week's cumulative jackpot.
Scenario C: Any Other Card is Revealed
All other cards are based on the amount of the jackpot as set forth below:
A. Jackpot Amount: $0.00 - $999.99 = $0.00
B. Jackpot Amount: $1,000 - $4,999 = $100.00
C. Jackpot Amount: $5,000 - $49,999 = $200.00
D. Jackpot Amount: $50,000 - $199,999 = $500.00
E. Jackpot Amount: $200,000 and up = $1,000.00
If the chosen card is not the Queen of Hearts and the winner is not present, the consolation prize is forfeited.
6. Taxes and Disbursal
- Tax Liability: Winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes.
- IRS Reporting: For cumulative payouts of $600 or more, the winner must provide a valid government-issued photo ID and complete an IRS Form W-9 before funds are disbursed.
- IRS Withholding: For large jackpots meeting federal thresholds, the bowling center will legally withhold the required percentage for federal income taxes before cutting a check.
- Method of Payment: Large jackpot payouts will be issued via business check or bank draft within 3 to 5 business days to allow for banking verification. No large cash payouts will be kept on the premises.
